DARWIN SAVE US FROM THE PATHETIC IDIOTS WHO BROUGHT THIS BEFORE THE SCOTUS!

From Raw Story:

The Supreme Court has denied a longshot lawsuit from three brothers who sought to remove President Joe Biden from office and reinstate Donald Trump.

"Brother Raland Brunson was listed as the plaintiff on the Supreme Court petition. The brothers said that members of Congress violated their oaths of office by failing to investigate fraud in the 2020election.

"The complaint asks that the 387 members of Congress who voted to certify Biden’s election be immediately thrown out of office and barred from ever running again. Biden and Harris would also be removed from the White House and banned from running, as would former Vice President Mike Pence," the Salt Lake Tribune reported recently.

In an order issued Monday, the high court said that the case was "denied" but gave no explanation."

Good Gawd! Who are the whackos who read and believe this tripe? Oh, wait! QAnon and the deplorables who believe Trumpie won the 2020 election, that's who.

From the "Highland County Press," a dubious news source that apparently has no acquaintance with truth or reality.

"The important national security interests implicated in this case allowed the Brunsons to bypass an appeal that was frozen at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and get the case to the Supreme Court which has now scheduled a hearing for January 6, 2023. The Brunson Petition for a Writ of Certiorari would require the votes of only four justices to move the case forward.

It seems astounding that the Court would wade into such waters two years to the day after the Congressional vote to install Joe Biden as president. But these are not normal times. Democrats may well push legislation in this month’s lame duck session of Congress to impose term limits and a mandatory retirement age for justices, and thereby open the door to packing the Court."

Utterly insane!

The Highland County Press item seems to have been re-posted from Gateway Pundit (based on the note at the end), and it's actually very sane and realistic compared with most of the stuff that appears there. The further out on the ideological fringe you go, the more people are just writing what they wish was true or what will get them the most views from the crazies, never mind evidence or reality.

Infidel... you forgot Right Wing Theorem 4.7.

If you have no evidence of wrongdoing by the left, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It means that evidence has been buried somewhere in the deep state.

Need a real life proof? Take a voyage on the Mothership or the Conservative Treehouse. Both fevered swamps of right wing ideology.

Mike, Anon, Infidel753, Dave M.

We know that the sailors on the Mother Ship are irredeemable and immune to the truth and reality, but to see this pile of conspiracy hogwash discussed at AOW's blog as though it had ANY acquaintance with reality and truth was shocking. I didn't think those folks were as marinated in FOXian, Trumpian propaganda as say the Gateway Pundit crazies. Apparently I'm wrong.

Dave, -FJ, of course, believes whole heartedly in the newest iteration of the "stolen election" hogwash, and was sure this bogus lawsuit with reveal the final truth of the "Deep State" election steal!

He's never, ever been right about ANYTHING. And his record of being wrong still holds.

One could make a deduction about his and the others' relationship to truth and reality from that, couldn't one.

The election is over so any attempt to change it is not going to happen no matter what kooks do. We need to focus on forcing auto makers to make cars no one wants to buy except the rich to show how much they care. We need to spend billions supporting migrants and ignore the homeless and we need have private charities support the veterans because the government won't. We need to hire 87000 IRS agents to go after companies and the middle class. According to ABC's New study finds IRS audits low-income workers at rate 5x higher than everyone else. Just think with thousands more agents they can increase that to 10x more.

Our priorities need to change to what is woke not what is right. Joey b is a sweet guy who just happens to be old. He donates confidential files to a non secure library but it is no big deal. After all he did come within one mile of a migrant when he almost visited the border for a photo op. Wake up people the border is secure and the economy is doing great.

I was wondering how long it would take before skud came here and repeated right-wing McCarthyite lies about the IRS law.

And skud didn't disappoint.

The 87,000 people who'd be hired by the IRS would be EMPLOYEES! Not just agents. Wait. I'll let Jeff Tiedrich explain:

"[J]ust a quick one today, because it perfectly illustrates the point I was making yesterday: the Republican-led 118th Congress is going to waste everyone’s time on pointless performative-nonsense bullshit that will end up accomplishing nothing.

[C]ase in point: yesterday, House Republicans passed their first bill yesterday, HR23, to “claw back” the funds allocated to hire 87,000 IRS employees.

(Let’s set aside the fact that the bill is based on a lie. [T]he IRS is hiring 87,000 employees, not agents, over a ten-year [not one-year] period, and most of those employees will not be auditors, but rather the people who perform office tasks such as answering the phone when you call with a question. but you knew that already. which makes you more informed than the average Fox News viewer.)

And the reason that more middle class folks are audited, skud, IS THAT IT IS EASIER TO AUDIT MIDDLE-CLASS RETURNS THAN, SAY, people like Donald Trump and other so-called "billionaires" because their returns are THOUSANDS of pages long. Whereas, people like you and me do not submit thousand-page tax returns that require dozens of people to audit.

It's really simple, if one looks at the TRUTH instead of repeating FAUX NOOZ and McCarthyite lies.

I also wondered when skud would bring up the material found at President Biden's old office and pretend that it was as bad as what Trump did. The Trumpers are all over the internet pretending the incidents are the same. THEY. ARE. NOT.

Biden's lawyers found the documents and IMMEDIATELY notified the National Archives and returned them. Trump LIED about having the top secret docs and kept them until the FBI had to get them.

But I'm not surprised that the anti-Biden folks would believe the two incidents are the same. After all, they are the same people who believe the 2020 election was stolen and that Trump should be PREZNIT again.

skud, skud, skud... why do you continue to post straight up misrepresentations? That is the expertise of Trump and his lackeys.

The 87,000 IRS employees you speak of are future hires to be hired over 10 years and are mostly foe administrative positions. Not agents.

How do you know that being woke isn't right skud? You don't. Especially since our past record of being un-woke clearly highlights how that has not been so great or even good. Hasn't it it skud?

Too bad your cynicism isn't directed where is is most deserving and needed.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Here's more, before the Trumpers pretend both incidents re: the government's docs are the same from the NYTimes reporting:

How are the situations different?

There are key gaps in the public record about both, but the available information suggests there were significant differences in how the documents came to light, their volume and — most important — how Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden responded. Mr. Trump and his aides resisted the government’s repeated efforts to retrieve them all, while Mr. Biden’s lawyers reported the problem and the White House says it has fully cooperated. These apparent differences have consequential legal implications.

Where were the files?

In Mr. Trump’s case, several hundred government files marked as classified — along with thousands of unclassified documents and photos — ended up at his Florida club and residence, Mar-a-Lago, after he left office. Some were in cartons in a locked storage closet, and the F.B.I. discovered others in Mr. Trump’s office, including in his desk, according to court filings.

In Mr. Biden’s case, the White House said in a statement on Monday that “a small number of documents with classified markings” were discovered in a locked closet at an office at a Washington think tank, the Penn Biden Center. It added that Mr. Biden had periodically used the space after leaving the vice presidency in 2017 until he began his bid for the 2020 presidency.

Shaw Kenawe said...

(cont.)

How did the files get there?

As president, Mr. Trump is said to have periodically taken records from the Oval Office to the residential areas of the White House. During the chaos of his last days in office after he sought to cling to power, those files were apparently packed up with personal items like clothing and mementos and shipped to Mar-a-Lago.

It is not yet known how records from the Obama administration wound up at the Penn Biden Center. On Tuesday, Mr. Biden said that he took classified information seriously and that he was “surprised to learn that there were any government records there that were taken to that office.”

How did the problems come to light?

Very differently.

In the case of Mr. Trump, the National Archives in the spring of 2021 realized that historically prominent files were missing and asked Mr. Trump to return them. The agency eventually retrieved 15 boxes and found that they included documents with classification markings. The Justice Department retrieved additional records after issuing a subpoena, but it developed evidence that Mr. Trump still had more.

In the case of Mr. Biden, the White House has said that his lawyers discovered the files on Nov. 2 when they were packing up to vacate the office at the Penn Biden Center. “The documents were not the subject of any previous request or inquiry by the archives,” it also said.

Shaw Kenawe said...

(cont.)

How did they respond?

Very differently.

Mr. Biden’s team reported the problem to the National Archives on the same day it was discovered, and the agency retrieved the materials the next morning, the White House said. It added that Mr. Biden’s team has since cooperated with the archives and the Justice Department “to ensure that any Obama-Biden administration records are appropriately in the possession of the archives.”

Mr. Biden said on Tuesday that his lawyers had acted appropriately: They immediately called the archives to turn over the materials. “We’re cooperating fully — cooperating fully — with the review, which I hope will be completed soon,” he said.

By contrast, Mr. Trump and his aides for months delayed responding to the National Archives’ repeated requests, then failed to fully comply with the subpoena while falsely saying they had.

A court filing also suggested that security camera footage shows that “government records were likely concealed and removed” from the storage room at Mar-a-Lago after the subpoena.

For skud:

woke

adjective
ˈwōk
woker; wokest
chiefly US slang
1
: aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)

But we will only succeed if we reject the growing pressure to retreat into cynicism and hopelessness. … We have a moral obligation to "stay woke," take a stand and be active; challenging injustices and racism in our communities and fighting hatred and discrimination wherever it rises.

Those who are anti-woke are the folks who want to be and stay UNaware of important societal facts and issues. IOW, Trumpers. Remember Trump said he "loved the poorly educated."

Ms. Shaw, 87000 IRS personnel being hired will increase the number of audits of the middle class and the hated small businesses which you admitted was low hanging fruit or the easy money. Those documents you mentioned were there since he was VP which is six years +. I understand that it is not significant because they were reported six years later and it is joey b who is a sweet guy.

I know you always turn discussions away from joey b to trump but I am talking about current president who is controlled by the DNC and reported on by the DNC owned media. I identify as a male which I know is anti-woke. My suburban identifies as a Prius so at least some of my things are woke.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud "Ms. Shaw,v which you admitted was low hanging fruit or the easy money."

I observed that it is easier to audit non-billionaires because it doesn't take an army of CPAs at the IRS to do so. What don't you understand about that. With more auditors, we can give the billionaires tax returns more scrutiny so that we can be sure they're not cheating our country out of paying what they owe -- like the Republican Party's president, Trump, did.

Also, it would be nice if you would back up this claim of your: "87000 IRS personnel being hired will increase the number of audits of the middle class and the hated small businesses..." with EVIDENCE. Otherwise, we understand this is nothing but your opinion, probably being parroted from anti-Biden media. You have no proof whatsoever about that statement. None.

Here's more of your OPINION, not fact, that floats around the anti-democracy, anti-Biden media, and is based on NOTHING:

skud: "I am talking about current president who is controlled by the DNC and reported on by the DNC owned media."

You give NO EVIDENCE FOR IT, so we dismiss it all as sour grapes and gossip. And you're entitled to believe all the gossip and anti-democracy, anti-Biden propaganda Faux Nooz, OAN, and Newsmax spews. I just don't like to see it spread around here, please.

Your friends on AOW and the Mother Ship, however, will eat it up.

skudrunner said...

Stands to reason that since the poor, middle class and small business gets audited 5x more than the rich that if you hire more people then they will have more time to go after the low hanging fruit. You are correct that billionaires have the resources to extend the audits but that is a factor of our tax code and could be corrected by congress. Consumption tax, flat tax or "fair Tax" are three very reasonable alternatives than the allowing the rich to write off almost everything and pay little. I am all for everyone paying their Fair share but for almost 50% to transfer than burden to the other 50% doesn't seem "Fair".

As to my being anti-biden, that is not true. How many migrants did he visit at his near border visit. Was there a massive clean up before his arrival. The answer is zero and yes. Now we have mayor pete charging ahead with another failure with air traffic and amtrac. Put people in charge of an agency they have no idea about and you can't expect them to understand what is going on. At least he was in the country when the latest snafu happened. You spend far more time on fox than I do and I never watch OAN or newsmax so I can't comment on them.

Hope the storm coming your way is not to bad. Stay safe and warm.

Grey One talks sass said...

Wow skud, you really have the skills to double down on a bad hand. Not sure I'd be bragging about that talent to be honest.

Say something nice about President Biden. Not snarky, something honestly accurate. Until then Shaw called it, you dislike anyone from the Democratic Party who is in power. They can do no right - case in point, blaming Secretary Pete (you forgot his title and to capitalize his name) for issues outside his control. I commend Sec Pete for identifying the issues and gathering the correct people to make sure the issue never happens again, something your chosen leaders failed to do during their chance at the presidency and then used as their campaign slogan - vote for us so we can fix all the stuff we broke (paraphrased of course)

I did some digging on the Consumption tax, flat tax, and "fair tax" you keep pushing. I don't know where you get your information but the economists I've read say all those alternatives will be devastating to anyone who is middle to low income. So how exactly is your idea better? And please use something besides those who consume will pay more. You know who can't buy in bulk? The poor. You know who can't purchase the well made item due to expense? Those living from paycheck to paycheck. Your solutions will not do what those pushing them say they will do. They will collapse our economy and country.

You consistently ignore all evidence which doesn't fit your ideological bubble and then get testy when we call you on it.

As for your parting comment "You spend far more time on fox than I do and I never watch OAN or newsmax so I can't comment on them.": It's totally weird that someone who says they don't watch those channels repeats their talking points verbatim. It's almost as if you are hardwired into the Sinclair Broadcasting database.

skudrunner said...

Grey, Kinda of disappointed in your response. You normally do a good job of looking up information but when it comes to The Fair Tax you really fell short. You need to research using a more diverse panel of economists. fairtax.org. , thebalancemoney.com, or read the book about the fair tax. You may learn that there are provisions for rebates for lower income and it is revenue neutral. It would eliminate deductions the rich can only take and take the sword away from the federal government to punish by taxation. Those who don't want to support a charity or religion don't have to and if you choose to it is because you believe in the organization not just want a tax break.

I vote as an independent and do vote from the candidate not the party so yes I have voted democrat. I am middle class and the last two democrat presidents were and are anti middle class and only interested in representing specific groups that it is impossible to support them. Joey b is a sweet guy according to Ms. Shaw but he has accomplished nothing for the average American. His treatment of the border is abysmal and his electric only agenda is not a working plan.

I only use capitals for people who's opinion I value or who make a good case for their ideas. mayor pete and joey b do not deserve a capital that just like mcconell and mcarthy.

Les Carpenter said...

A quick question skud. Who's opinion exactly do you value and who makes a good case?

I'm sure i'd lie to hear. And maybe others as well.

Thank you in advance skud.

Les Carpenter said...

Iike not lie

Grey One talks sass said...

skud, thanks for the sort-of compliment.

I always perform due diligence, comes from developing research skills when I could still work. I stand by my take on the alternative tax plans you advocate. I once was a flat tax advocate myself until I found copious amounts of data which proved how disastrous it would be for those on the bottom of the economic ladder.

Does our current tax code need some revising? Most definitely yes. Are the options you suggest viable? Most definitely no. I suggest you do some due diligence yourself instead of relying on your chosen voices of authority. I guess you could ignore my advice but that would say to me you don't care about those less fortunate than yourself. Not everyone is blessed with good outcomes. Sometimes a person can do everything correctly and still end up at the bottom of the ladder. Sometimes people at the top just love to stomp on the fingers of anyone below them.

skud, I didn't ask you how you vote. I asked you to say something nice about President Biden or, by extension, any other member of the Democratic Party who is in office. Nice goal post moving skills though. All that work on your core has paid off.

Grey One talks sass said...

Good question Les. I'm sure I'd like to hear as well. Thus far skud has been quiet on sources. Maybe for good reason because I'm sure I have opinions.
