Donald Trump would have been convicted over 2020 election, says special counsel

Tell us something we didn't know!

What a failure of the judicial system that something, which was visible for all with eyes to see,  took almost four years to affirm!

A third of the American voting populace knowingly elected a felon and a sexual assaulter who tried to stage a coup to illegally hold onto power.

We now know that many Americans don’t care because their attitude is that character and criminality aren’t important to this country anymore. IMO, Trump voters have completely lost their moral compass.

Now America and the world have to live with a criminal, a sexual assaulter, a liar, cheat, and fraud for four years.

We are now a sham democracy presided over by a criminal supported by an oligarchy and toady sycophants. Not an exact definition of a banana republic but getting pretty close.

The American electorate failed this test miserably.

Maybe Trump winning the election needed to happen to expose how shallow we are as a people.

To the readers to whom I urged patience with AG Merrick Garland, I off this apology. I truly believed he was doing the People's work. I was not just wrong but spectacularly wrong. Not an easy thing to admit. AG Garland was so concerned with appearing to be partisan that he in essence froze allowing bad faith actors freedom to be, well, bad faith actors. I thought he was being careful. Nope. He was covering his rear end with the MAGA-sphere - and here's the worst part, it didn't work because MAGA despises him. So AG Garland wasted his legacy and will in the future be known as the lawman who refused to enforce the law. Again, I apologize.

You don't need to apologize. You did what all of us (who believe in justice) did. We had faith that justice would prevail. In the era of Trump, that is gone along with the American ideal of "justice for all." That is a LIE. And I will never say it again.

We know that Trump is a convicted felon who would not be allowed to serve in the military, yet the benighted MAGAs voted for him to be a convicted felon Commander in Chief.

Nothing makes sense anymore.

I don't know my country anymore.

For years I've believed, or wanted to perhaps, that character mattered. I now know that the best way to win elections is not with sound policy and polite discourse. If I'm in a position to run a campaign ever again the message will be targeted to individual blocs and it will simply be "Vote for this guy. He hates (insert minority or religious group here) as much as you do.

The ignorance of this era of You Know Who and the MAGAts simply proves certain numbers of humankind simply loves its ignorance and delusions. Eventually things will move forward again. Probably after we're all taking our dirt nap. The gizards of America have won. Temporarily. Everything is cyclical.

Was wondering, Les, do "gizzards ' comprise the 'G' in MAGA?
Or the 'G' in Greenland? Hard to keep up with Loony Tunes these days.

MAGA.

No problem with Greenland.

I thought gizards was more polite than turds.
