Imagine if a Democratic president nominated a person for Secy. of Def. who stated this about Republicans/Conservatives:
"Hegseth has settled an accusation of sexual assault, appears to have a history of alcohol abuse, and has been accused of financial mismanagement at two small veterans’ nonprofits. But he appears to embody the sort of strongman ethos Trump craves. Jonathan Chait of The Atlantic did a deep dive into Hegseth’s recent books and concluded that Hegseth “considers himself to be at war with basically everybody to Trump’s left, and it is by no means clear that he means war metaphorically.” Hegseth’s books suggest he thinks that everything that does not support the MAGA worldview is “Marxist,” including voters choosing Democrats at the voting booth.
He calls for the “categorical defeat of the Left” and says that without its “utter annihilation,” “America cannot, and will not, survive.”

For the next four years we can treat our Government by Olicarchy as nothing more than a sick aberration brought about by an ignorant plurality of uninformed followers of delusions. By the time the oligarchs of America are through the entire country will hate them and their member numbers will tremble in confusion and fear.
All without evidence Les. For every person who denigrates a candidate there are 10 who will paint them as a saint. Pictures or video would be conclusive but to say we have an anonymous source shows little proof. After trump was shown on video admitting he was evil and still won shows that people want results from a candidate and are willing to look past some issues. I should say most people look past rumors but as you have shown it depends on what party they are representing. Biden is rumored to accept bribes and you don't accept that yet hegseth is said to be a drunk and you accept that.
I have no doubt the senator from my neighboring state of Iowa, Joni Earnst, a victim of sexual assault, will vote to confirm Pete. Les does exasperation with Washington stuff better than anybody else but I have to take some of his thunder. Jesus H. Christ. One would have thought this lady would have had at least a few friends from all the republican senators that could have stood with her and told Trump no before this joker got to the hearing room. Fealtyto the king above all else. Man I tell ya.
Actually, skud, the people who worked with Hegseth at FAUX NOOZ attested to his drunkenness, and his own mother is on record calling him out on his satyriasis!
Hegseth, like RFK,Jr., and Trump , are noted serial adulterers -- which, apparently , is considered a shining moral attribute in Republican religious circles. The more Republican men break their marital vows, the more their followers admire them.
And yes, I know about the Democratic pols who've done the same, except the Democrats NEVER bragged about being the political party of "family values."
That would have been hypocritical, wouldn't it?
Hegseth is just a reflection of what Trump is himself -- except for his drunkenness. Juxtapose Trump's malignant narcissism with Hegseth's drinking and sexual carousing, and morally they're like binary stars.

Senator: I’ll speak in his defense because to err is human. Who among us hasn’t shown up drunk to work? Who here hasn’t cheated on their wife?
Hegseth: Please stop helping me
Senator: Who hasn’t taken off their pants at the zoo?
Aaaaaaand back into the gutter we go with Trump's choices!
Each candidate was chosen to wreck the department they would 'lead'.
Of course that would be a disaster in the private sector. The US has evolved about 250 years since the Revolution. The goal to dismantle it is beyond logical belief.
The same people who say DEI policies lower hiring standards voted for a convicted felon for President.
I’m so old that I remember when Republicans wailed about President Obama “ fundamentally changing “ America.. and now it is actually happening, as we watch unqualified people being nominated for cabinet positions by a convicted criminal and adjudicated sexual assaulter who incited an insurrection against the United States government, hoping his own VP would be hanged!
I would venture to state that is a tad unusual for us to witness.
Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Fox News Channel host Pete Hegseth, is adamant about restoring the names of Confederate generals to U.S. military installations. His confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee began today.
The defense secretary oversees about 1.3 million active-duty troops and another 1.4 million in the National Guard and employed in Reserves and civilian positions, as well as a budget of more than $800 billion. Hegseth has none of the usual qualifications of defense secretaries. As Benjamin Wittes of Lawfare pointed out today, he has “never held a policy role…never run anything larger than a company of 200 soldiers…never been elected to anything.”
Hegseth suggested his lack of qualifications was a strength, saying in his opening statement that while “[i]t is true that I don’t have a similar biography to Defense Secretaries of the last 30 years…as President Trump…told me, we’ve repeatedly placed people atop the Pentagon with supposedly ‘the right credentials’...and where has it gotten us? He believes, and I humbly agree, that it’s time to give someone with dust on his boots the helm.”
The “dust on his boots” claim was designed to make Hegseth’s authenticity outweigh his lack of credentials, but former Marine pilot Amy McGrath pointed out that Trump’s defense secretary James Mattis and Biden’s defense secretary Lloyd Austin, both of whom reached the top ranks of the military, each came from the infantry.

Yet you are fine with a person who lied about his military service and he was a candidate for VP. Talk about lack of qualifications. You believed a women who couldn't remember what date, where or even if she was sexually assaulted yet she is telling the truth. Accused is proof if it is a republican and never proven if it is a democrat.
No. Tim Walz did not lie about his military service. You’re repeating right wing propaganda. You’re also comparing E. Jean Carroll to Hegseth? Did anyone nominate her for a cabinet positions? Also, a jury believed her, and not Donald Trump. You apparently don’t believe in juries who render decisions you personally don’t like.
Additionally, the testimony against the drunken Hegseth was from first-person accounts, not hearsay, and Hegseth’s own MOTHER called him out on his disgusting sexual tom- cattery.
If Hegseth had a “ D” after his name instead of an “R”, you’d be crapping all over his nomination for it’s insulting impudence.
From a friend on facebook:
“I can't say as I've ever heard heard such a relentless series of specious arguments, fatuous and fulsome fallacies, evasions and distractions as is now being presented by the Trump Party in the effort to give a powerful position to a staggeringly unqualified, sociopathic party hack. The issue is not whether the Pentagon needs to be cleansed, but whether Hegseth is being used as a strap on dildo to allow Donald Trump to rape yet another cornerstone of our Nation's structure. The issue is whether this despicable character isn't less qualified than a huge, a staggeringly huge number of better qualified, smarter, more honest, experienced and trustworthy Secretary of Defense candidates. The best argument the Trumpers have given is that there are worse candidates in the Senate. So much for their pretense to support merit based appointments. I cry for our future.“
I do not cry for the future. America got what it voted for. Collective Responsibility and Collective Accountability is now ours . We can now deal with the lying, delusions, criminality, and the decline in decency, good will, and, love of country that Who Know Who and the filthy rich authoritarian oligarchs of Amerika are bringing to the country on Jan.20, 2025.
Good Night America. We've seen our best days. A deep Veil of Darkness is very soon descending upon this land and WILL be forced upon us all.
Repugs were a study (as usual) in cowardice at the Hegseth hearing. Will the Dems have enough power to fill the void -- big question. But the thug must be stopped. Hegseth, about as morally bankrupt as they come, a frat boy who has never grown up, will happily follow orders, call out the military if ordered to do so and start shooting down protestors - and revel in the blood unleashed - pure, unadulterated fascism. Welcome to the new America.
"Pete Hegseth is a Christian Reconstructionist - a theocratic movement which advocates execution for violations of biblical law including witchcraft, adultery, homosexuality, blasphemy, & teenage rebellion."
Sounds like something from the Dark Ages -- which we're about to enter on January 20th.
"In 2023, Hegseth moved from New Jersey to Tennessee to join a church and school community that arises from a 20th-century movement, called Christian Reconstruction. It holds deeply conservative views about the family, roles for women, and how religion and politics are related.
"The followers of the movement seek to make America a Christian nation, by which they mean a nation built on biblical law, including its prohibitions and punishments.
Christian Reconstructionists want to dismantle public education and replace modern ideas about family with a patriarchal family model because they claim that biblical law requires both. They believe that Old Testament biblical law applies to today’s society and to everyone, whether or not they are Christian. For them, all of life is religious; there is no separation between religion and politics.
Though only a handful of people are formally tied to Christian Reconstructionism, its influence has been broader."
"Watching Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth demonstrate his appalling lack of credentials, knowledge, and character for the job for which he was nominated I am compelled to ask: Is the Trump administration running a DEI program for incompetent, unqualified, and/or ethically compromised Whites?" --Jennifer Rubin
Having done a fair share of hiring, most of the Trump nominees would go in the shredder file, rather than the interview phase. Whatever happened to
ablility and experience? Yes men are pretty much worthless.
You must have not followed the military career of walz because when he was call into action he resigned. I was speaking of ford and her forgetting the truth.
That’s a lie, and you shouldn’t repeat lies. Who do you think you are? Trump?
When the values one hold are purely those of self enrichment one should not be the leader of anything.
The incoming administration will be the dumbest, drunkest, one of sexual perversion, and the most criminal in the history of the nation.
Clearly a large share of the country is down with criminality, sexual perversion, drunkeness, and stupidity.
May the positive energies of the universe work to render the incoming administration incapable of succeeding in the destruction of the greatest democracy humankind has ever known.
